What are these answers?
1. Larry, Lionel, and Lester painted a fence. Larry painted the first 1/3 of the fence. Lionel painted 3/5 of what remained. Lester painted the final 40 ft. How long is the fence?
2. A snail is crawling along a meter stick. At a certain point the snail syops. The snail needs to crawl three times as far as it has already crawled in order to become 4 cm. from the end. How far has the snail already crawled?
3. An antique dealer visited 3 shops. She spent $25 at the first shop. At the second shop, she spent half of her remaining money. At the third shop she spent 1/3 of her remaining money and had $60 left. How much money did she have origionally?
I would appreciate ANY of these answers even if You Can‘t do them all. Any help is appreciated and work isnt neccessary. The chapter says that it is just problem solving backwards but I can’t figure it out. Thank you!
1)x= length of fence
Larry paints x/3, Lionel paints x(1-1/3)*3/5, Lester paints 40ft.
So, (2/3*2/5)x = 40ft
x= 150ft
2) x= length of travel
1m=100cm
3*x=96
x=32cm
3) x= total money
F=First store = $25
S=Second store = (x-25)/2
T=Third store = ((x-25)/2)/3
x=F+S+T+60
